The reserve extends on both sides of the Blue Vale Road and is a designated Travelling Stock Reserve. Locals go here to fish yellow belly, catfish, carp, and shrimp. It will rarely flood as the water is controlled flow from Lake Keepit. There are no facilities at this location.
Located about 25 minutes from Gunnedah at Lake Keepit Holiday and Recreational Park, the The Lake Keepit Family Fishing Club is famous for its fishing. The Lake Keepit Family Fishing Club has monthly club competitions the 2nd Saturday of each month except June & July. $100 is up for grabs each month & at the end of the year there is a fish off for $300 between the ten monthly medal winners. The joining fee is $10 or $20 per Family. They encourage kids to have a go at the great sport of Angling and recently held a competition for people with disabilities. Try your luck catching the local varieties of Silver and Golden Perch (Yellow Belly), Murray Cod and even Catfish. Visit them on face book to find out more.
