What is Home Hosting?
Gunnedah Home Hosting Service is coordinated by the Gunnedah Visitor Information Centre to assist visitors and exhibitors to find accommodation in Gunnedah during the busy AgQuip period. Home Hosting is a bed and light breakfast style accommodation service whereby clients are ‘billeted’ by local Gunnedah residents in their homes.
Hosts provide visitors with a comfy bed, full linen and a light breakfast daily topped off with Country Hospitality! As a host you will be paid for your hospitality at a set rate devised by the Gunnedah Visitor Information Centre and the best part is you will have the opportunity to meet really great people from all over Australia!

What Do I Need to Provide?
Hosts are asked to provide each guest with:

  • A cosy bed fitted with fresh linen, clean blankets and 2 pillows
  • Bed side table and lamp
  • A place for guests to hang / store clothing and personal items
  • Fresh towel daily
  • Electric blankets for each bed supplied (Regardless of the weather conditions)
  • A spare blanket on the foot of the bed
  • A light breakfast each morning consisting of toast and cereal, fruit, tea/coffee and juice.

NB: The breakfast menu is set at the discretion of the HOST with consideration given to guest dietary requirements. You may provide a breakfast menu of your choosing as long as the basics are provided.
NB: Lunch and Evening Meals are NOT included in the hosting package. Lunch and Dinner arrangements may be organised between the host and client directly with payment for these meals being made directly between Host and Guest. Generally we recommend $20 per person for a roast dinner style meal & Sweets.

Please note: (Preference is given to those hosts who have ‘spare bedroom’ accommodation in their home that is not a child’s bedroom. Also, if your toilet facility is located in the bathroom then the number of guests that can be comfortably hosted at your home is restricted).

- Home and Content Insurance
ALL HOSTS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN HOME INSURANCE. It is strongly recommended that you check with your own insurer as to your coverage in the event of an accident or theft involving Home Hosting clients (paying guests).

- Home Inspections
To ensure guests have a quality experience, Gunnedah Home Hosting will need to conduct a brief Inspection of all new host homes and will be arranged at a time suitable with you. The duration of this inspection is 15 minutes in which time the Coordinator will need to see the bedrooms, bathroom and toilet facilities being offered and will check the age and condition of the bed/bedding. All inspections are confidential and are conducted by one of the friendly staff from the Gunnedah Visitors Centre.

Host Payment Particulars
Gunnedah Home Hosting will receive payments from Guests prior to the commencement of their stay with you and will distribute payments to Hosts via Direct Deposit from Council’s Finance department. You will be required to complete a New Creditor Form for Council with your banking details for Direct Deposit payments. As a host you are not required to handle any money.

Client Cancellations
If a guest fails to show up for accommodation booked with you by Gunnedah Home Hosting then you will still receive a small cancellation payment for each guest booking. This payment is not applicable if we have been able to fill your accommodation with another company booking at the last minute.

Previous Guests
All accommodation must be booked through Gunnedah Home Hosting at the Visitors Information Centre. If a previous guest contacts you, please refer them to our office for reservations.

It is a condition of Home Hosting that you agree to accept whomever we book into your available accommodation, keeping in mind, that we will try to place the same company with you if you wish to host that company again. On previous occasions clients have stated to the host that they will be back the following year to Ag-Quip but often guests don’t return and this delay in securing your accommodation may result in other paying clients being turned away.

How Can I Register to be a Host?
Please download the Host Registration Form and EMAIL, FAX, DROP IN or MAIL your completed accommodation registration as quickly as possible. A prompt reply will increase your chances of securing a guest.

Once received Gunnedah Home Hosting will process your application and contact you to arrange a home inspection. Once accepted we will match your facilities and requirements with an appropriate guest. We will then notify you of your allocation(s) by phone/mail and you will receive your guest(s) details.
The guest is advised to contact the host directly to introduce themselves and advise them of any special dietary requirements.

Housekeeping Notes:

  1. Home Inspections: We continue to inspect all homes registered with Gunnedah Home Hosting on a rotational basis. Please fill in (Section 5) for an indication of the days/times your home will be available for an inspection. If your accommodation has not been inspected for some time or you are a new Host, you will be contacted for a confirmed inspection date and time.
  2. Complete your ABN OR tick the FULL PAYMENT exemption box. (Section 7)
  3. Privacy Declaration: Please ensure you complete Section 8 on the registration form. If you do not wish us to disclose that information, we may not be able to register you as a Host. (Section 8)
  4. Home & Contents Insurance: All hosts must have Home and Contents Insurance. It is strongly recommended that you check with your own insurer as to your coverage in the event of an accident or theft involving Home Hosting clients (paying guests). (Section 9)
  5. Please remember to sign the form. (Section 11)
