Historic Kurrumbede Homestead (Circa 1908) was built by the Mackellar family and designed by Sydney architecht John Reid.
The property known as 'Kurrumbede was originally part of the 'Burburgate Run', a vast pastoral holding on the Liverpool Plains in the 1800's
This estate was subdivided into blocks and sold at Auction in 1905. 2 Blocks were purchased by doctor and politition, Sir Charles Mackellar, Dorothea's father and became the family farms from then for many years to come.
Dorothea loved the country and spent a lot of time on 'Kurrumbede' finding inspiration for her writings and prose.
The Dorothea Mackellar Memorial Society and Whitehaven Coal invite the community to relive these days at a Garden Party with live entertainment, Stalls and activities for young and old, horse and sulky rides and poetry of course!
Entry: Gold Coin Donation.
