Nominations close on November 24, for Gunnedah Shire’s Australia Day Awards.

These awards recognise and honour individuals and groups from within the Shire area and local communities who have worked tirelessly to shape and enrich the Shire.

The 13 categories in Gunnedah Shire Australia Day Awards are: Citizen of the Year Award (21 and over); Young Citizen of the Year Award (20 and under); Ossie and Beryl Campbell Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award; Eve Turner Perpetual Trophy; Community Achievement Award; Cultural Achievement Award; Max & Mikie Maas Good Neighbour Award; Sports Person of the Year Award (21 and over); Junior Sports Person of the Year Award (20 and under); Junior Sports Team of the Year Award (20 and under); Sports Team of the Year Award; Ivan Towns Memorial Award; and Environmental Citizen of the Year Award (open age category).

Winners will be announced during the Australia Day Awards Presentation Ceremony to be held at the Gunnedah Town Hall on Thursday January 25, 2024.

Doors open at 6.00pm.  Bookings essential.  Tickets $15.00 per person, available online at trybooking.com  This is a BYO Food and Beverages event. 

Gunnedah Shire's 2024 Australia Day 2 Guest Ambassadors are Todd McKenney & Murray Hartin. 

Todd McKenney is an Australian dancer, theatre performer and TV personality.  Todd is best known as a judge on Australian television talent show Dancing with the Stars. 

Murray Hartin,  this beloved Australian bush Poet is considered to be one of the best Australian rhyming poets of the modern era, his stories epitomise mateship and Muz will remind you and the family how lucky we are to be Australian.
